Anyone who participated in the hearings or watched even a small fraction of the 343 recorded testimonies will have been changed forever. Many of the testimonies were heartbreaking, shocking, and often terrifying. The severity of the situation, as described in government propaganda and daily state media broadcasts, led to a general willingness among the population to accept stringent measures as a necessary evil.

However, as time progressed, the long-term consequences and societal costs associated with prolonged lockdowns could no longer be hidden from the public.
