Main Topic

Long-term care lockdown effects, vaccine mandate employment consequences, and observed resident health impacts during COVID-19.

One Line Summary

Registered nurse Lynn Kofler testified that long-term care lockdowns caused isolation and decline among residents, vaccine mandates ended her employment, and she observed unusually high mortality and adverse reactions.

Synopsis

Lynn Kofler testified that she worked as a registered nurse in long-term care and observed significant resident suffering during repeated lockdowns. She described residents being confined to rooms, eating from disposable dishware, denied social activities, and unable to see family members. She stated that isolation led to increased confusion, withdrawal, decreased eating, and what she believed contributed to preventable decline and death among residents. She reported that in a 55-resident facility, 34 residents died within a one-year period, which she described as unprecedented in her nursing career.
Kofler also testified that she observed adverse reactions following vaccination, including severe arm pain lasting days and cases of persistent skin boils that required daily care. She stated that these reactions were discussed between staff but not formally documented or reported to higher authorities. She further testified that government communications sometimes listed her facility as being in COVID lockdown despite her assertion that there were no confirmed cases in the building during that time.
Regarding her own employment, Kofler testified that she declined vaccination due to autoimmune health concerns. She stated that after October 9, 2021, she was removed from shifts and effectively terminated, along with at least four other staff members. She described financial hardship during ten months of unemployment and stated she withdrew retirement savings to survive. She also testified that staff morale was strained due to understaffing, vaccine-related division, and perceived punitive actions against employees who expressed dissenting views or political opinions.
